Hinduja College DLLE Kicks Off First Term Training Programme

Every strong team starts with a clear sense of purpose, and that’s exactly what our DLLE Unit set out to build on 13th August 2026. In Room No. 18, the unit held its First Term Training Programme, bringing volunteers together to understand not just what DLLE does, but why it matters.

Setting the Tone for the Year Ahead

The programme was designed as an orientation in the truest sense, walking volunteers through the unit’s objectives, responsibilities and the kind of community-focused initiatives they’d be part of over the coming term. More than just logistics, the session pushed students to think about their role in something bigger: promoting social awareness, community engagement and responsible citizenship. The volunteers’ energy throughout the session made it clear the message landed.

A Chief Guest Who Brought Real Perspective

Adding weight to the occasion was Chief Guest Mr. Arvind Paranjgpee, Director of Nehru Planetarium, Worli, who graciously accepted the invitation to address the volunteers. His session went beyond a simple welcome speech, offering genuinely motivating insight that encouraged students to build confidence, sharpen their leadership instincts, and develop a deeper sense of social sensitivity. For many first-time volunteers, it was the kind of pep talk that reframes a role from a task list into a responsibility worth owning.

New Leadership, Officially Announced

The programme also marked a milestone moment for the unit’s structure: the official reveal of the DLLE Unit’s Student Manager (SM) and Deputy Student Manager (DSM). That announcement did more than formalise titles, it gave volunteers clarity on who leads what, and gave the newly appointed student leaders a clear starting point to step into their responsibilities with confidence.

Why Orientation Matters More Than It Seems

Training programmes like this one often get treated as a formality, but they set the tone for everything that follows. Volunteers who understand the “why” behind their work tend to show up differently, more engaged, more willing to take initiative, and more invested in the unit’s broader mission. This session gave that foundation early, rather than leaving volunteers to figure it out mid-activity.

Building Toward the Term Ahead

With orientation complete and leadership roles clearly defined, the DLLE Unit now moves into the term with a stronger sense of structure and purpose. The combination of Mr. Paranjgpee’s guidance and the clarity around student leadership gives volunteers a solid base to build on as the unit’s activities ramp up.

A Strong Start, Built on Purpose

The First Term Training Programme did exactly what it set out to do: equip volunteers with orientation, motivation, and a clearer understanding of social responsibility, while strengthening the unit’s internal structure for the work ahead. It’s the kind of groundwork that quietly shapes how effective a team becomes over the rest of the year.
