Hinduja College Launches Sindhi Heritage and Language Forum
Culture survives when people choose to carry it forward. That was the spirit behind the orientation of our Sindhi Heritage and Language Forum on 10th September 2026, an afternoon dedicated to introducing students to Sindhi culture, language and community, and inviting them to become part of its future.
A Forum With a Clear Purpose

The orientation was organised to introduce the forum’s objectives and planned activities, while building awareness about Sindhi culture, language, traditions and heritage. It brought Sindhi students together to foster a sense of belonging, and just as importantly, it was open to students from every background. That openness mattered: culture grows stronger when it’s shared, not guarded.
Voices Behind the Initiative
Vice Principal Dr. Chandrakala Joshi and Forum In-charge Dr. Pooja M. Talreja addressed the gathering, speaking about why preserving cultural heritage matters and how a community stays connected to its roots through awareness and participation. Their message encouraged students to step forward and take part in the cultural and educational initiatives the forum has planned. Student Head Tiya Satpal of SYBMM hosted the programme, welcoming participants and guiding the session with warmth and ease.
An Orientation That Didn’t Feel Like One
What made the afternoon stand out was its format. Rather than a traditional, speech-heavy introduction, the forum chose something more interactive: a quiz built around Sindhi culture, traditions, history and community knowledge. The format pulled the audience in immediately. Curiosity replaced passive listening, and students found themselves learning about the community’s contributions almost without noticing, one question at a time.
Inclusivity at the Centre
One of the forum’s clearest goals was to welcome non-Sindhi students into the conversation, and the orientation delivered on that. Students from different cultural backgrounds took part, learned something new, and engaged with traditions they might not otherwise encounter. That kind of cultural exchange is exactly what a campus as diverse as ours is built for.
Support From the Top
The forum also expressed sincere gratitude to Principal Dr. Navin Punjabi, whose continued guidance and encouragement have made its initiatives possible. Although an unavoidable emergency kept him from attending, he sent his best wishes and encouragement for the forum’s future work. His presence was missed, but his support was felt throughout the programme.
A Positive Beginning

The orientation set the tone for what lies ahead. Students left with a clearer picture of the forum’s vision, a stronger interest in Sindhi heritage, and a reason to stay involved. It also showed how interactive formats can make cultural learning feel lively and personal instead of formal and distant.
Looking Ahead
With a successful orientation behind it, the Sindhi Heritage and Language Forum now looks forward to building a calendar of events that celebrate its heritage, strengthen unity among students and deepen cultural awareness across the college community. For Hinduja College, an institution rooted in the Sindhi linguistic minority tradition, it’s a fitting step toward keeping that legacy alive for the next generation.
