Introduction

The Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) is a multidisciplinary undergraduate programme designed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Approved by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and recognised by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra, the BMS programme provides students with a holistic and flexible education in business, entrepreneurship, leadership, and technology integration. It emphasises experiential learning, internships, and value-added courses to prepare future-ready graduates. The programme offers specialisation options in marketing, finance, and human resource management (HR), enabling students to align their education with career goals and industry needs.

Eligibility

Admission to the Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) programme is governed by the rules of the University of Mumbai, the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra, and the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Educational Qualification: The candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Examination (10+2 pattern) or its equivalent examination from the Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education or any recognised board in the first attempt. The candidate must have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per Maharashtra State Government rules).
  • STREAMS ELIGIBLE: Candidates from arts, commerce, science, or vocational streams are eligible to apply.
  • Entrance Examination: Candidates are required to appear for the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, for admission to BMS programmes. For detailed information, please refer to the official Information Brochure: https://cetcell.mahacet.org/

Admission

  • Admission to the course is offered by the rules framed by the University of Mumbai from time to time and will be given at the commencement of the first semester.
  • Candidates seeking admission other than Maharashtra board and colleges affiliated other than University of Mumbai must produce a transfer certificate from the board/college last attended.

Programme Outcome

Upon completion of the BMS programme, students will:

  • Demonstrate managerial competencies in diverse business functions.
  • Apply interdisciplinary knowledge for problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Communicate effectively and lead with social responsibility and ethics.
  • Exhibit entrepreneurial abilities and adaptability in a dynamic global economy.
  • Be equipped for higher education, research, or employment in government and industry sectors.
  • Apply specialised knowledge in marketing, finance, or HR as per their chosen stream.

Scheme of Examination

  • Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA): 40%
  • End Semester University Examination (ESE): 60%
  • Components: Written exams, case analysis, group projects, presentations, internships, and viva
  • Minimum passing: 40% in each individual component
